Contra III: The Alien Wars
The first 16-bit installment in the Contra series, designed exclusively
for the SNES. Contra 3 (originally named Contra Spirits in Japan)
continues the story of Bill and Lance's awesome battles against the evil
Red Falcon alien forces. Like Super C, this classic two-player action
shooter is played from a side-scrolling perspective and from an
overhead perspective, which now utilizes Mode 7 effects. Either way,
this game boasts awesome weaponry and very creative challenges, and it
is the last installment to feature a sci-fi horror-inspired musical
score. (In the North American version, Bill and Lance's names are
sometimes changed to Jimbo and Sully. The European version of this game
is called Super Probotector.)
